Tips To Create a Good PDF File for Print

Introduction

PDF is recognized as the standard file format across many platforms and systems. It retains the layout, color and quality of the printing output no matter what system you use to view it.

Creating a good PDF

In the Adobe Distiller options menu:
    Under the images tab:
    • Check off "anti-aliasing".
    • Use zip as the compression method for all images (if needed to be compressed)
    • Turn off all downsampling options for all images.
    Under the fonts tab:
    • Turn off "font subsetting" option and embed all fonts.
    • Clear anything in the "Never embed box".
    Under the colour tab:
    • Turn off "colour management".
    • If applicable - Printer colours should be set to RGB and resolution of 1200dpi and frequency of 1001pi. Once all above options are set, save the setting so that you may retrieve it for future designs.
Other ways of creating a PDF
